Geocaching is all about exploring the world around us. But what if the maps that we use to find caches aren't accurate? Sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't. OpenStreetMap is a community of passionate map enthusiasts who are gathering in Detrroit for the weekend to share their experiences with creating the best open and free map of the world. This map is used by millions of people, including geocachers!
This event aims to bring the two communities together for some donuts, beverages and general "nice to meet yous". We'll be meeting in the morning so both communities will have time for their respective activities the rest of the day. We'll have some stickers and swag to share with event attendees, travel bugs and coins to swap and checkin, and generally a positive and fun time learning from each other.
This event does not require or is intended to promote attendance to the State of the Map conference. The organizers of the conference have given permission for the event to take place outside and are excited to bridge the gap between communities. OSM State of the Map 2018
